There are plenty of people who have trouble peeling garlic. I had even been asked for tips on peeling garlic by my own mother. Is peeling garlic also a struggle for you? In today's world, people prefer to buy minced garlic instead of peeling garlic, since it's more convenient and faster. You don't need to be an expert to use fresh garlic! Check out the following tips for making working with fresh garlic easier.

1. For me, peeling garlic is a quick process. If you are only peeling a few cloves, this method is best. Press down the sides of one clove of garlic against the counter after removing it from the bulb. Each time you press, you should hear a crack. By doing so, you should be able to release the garlic from the peel. After snapping the top of the peel, you can easily remove the entire peel.

2. If you need to peel a lot of garlic, there is a way to peel an entire bulb of garlic at once! If you have a jar or even Tupperware, you can shake your cloves loose. Take one bulb of garlic and slice off the entire bottom of the bulb. Place the bulb into your jar or container and close it up. Shake it like crazy for a few minutes, and your garlic cloves should be free!

3. Another way to peel your garlic quickly would be to use a microwave. Place your cloves onto a plate and place them into the microwave. Cook for about 20 seconds and the peels should easily slide right off the cloves.

4. The last method I use to peel your garlic is to use boiling water. Place your cloves into a pot of boiled water and after about 5 minutes you can slide the peel right off. Similar to using the microwave method, but best for those who don’t use a microwave!

Once you've peeled your garlic, you can chop and mince it as you wish. A knife is sometimes all I need to chop up some garlic. My arthritis prevents me from mincing or chopping more than one or two cloves of garlic at a time, so I use a garlic press instead. This is much faster and with less pain for my wrists. Hopefully, these tips have been helpful for you, and you can get back to using fresh garlic again! Keep an eye out for more upcoming tips in my next blog posts.
